For references on a Candidate we speak with Auto Group Executives, Dealer Principals, General Managers, Controllers, Office Managers, Service Managers, Parts Managers and Co-Workers.

An example with a General Manager candidate is that we would call former Dealer Principals, Controllers, GSM’s, Service Managers and others in former dealerships that person has worked.

Respectfully, hiring a person because you “liked” them and what they had to say, without making an effort to call former employers and managers is a risky and many times an expensive proposition.

We respect our Employer Customers and do not recruit, headhunt or solicit people from dealerships to fill job openings or use email, newsletters, or social media to contact people currently working enticing them with job openings.

We “Do Not” nor ever have visited our Employer Customer’s dealerships to meet with the management team or employees.  In our view that is Indirect Recruiting.

We have placed Auto Group Platform Managers before that title was commonly used.  We placed the Corporate Auto Group Level General Manager (Platform Manager) with a local Dealer Principal who began to build an Auto Group with acquisitions of new top tier franchises. This General Manager had extensive knowledge of dealership accounting using that knowledge to help evaluate potential acquisitions including scrutiny of financial statements for transparency and potential issues. From there, manufacturer approval, property purchases and building new dealerships resulted in this auto group becoming one of the largest and most successful in the Pacific Northwest with over 15 brands and 7 additional subsidiaries.

Two other key placements we made with the Dealer Principal was a talented Variable candidate who became the Variable Operations Manager (Platform Manager) for the entire auto group’s sales operation and the long term Corporate Controller.
